Johnson's Auto Care Demonstrates Random Acts of Kindness (5/21/2009) Most of us in the Mount Washington Valley are well aware of the generosity that encompasses our community. And no other organization has a better front-row view than Jen’s Friends Cancer Foundation. Board members, especially those who deal directly with their clients, witness the impact that donations of time, money and supplies have on the families who have a loved one dealing with a diagnosis of cancer. One business that responded to a client’s need is Johnson’s Auto Care in Redstone. A client desperately needed two new tires for her car, because she made frequent trips to Portland for radiation therapy. John Johnson, owner of Johnson’s Auto Care, not only gave the best price for two tires, but provided four tires for his quoted price. He’s been in the business for 32 years in Mt. Washington Valley, and explained that, “Although I get many, many requests for donations, I like to focus on the people who truly need the help. I like to do the unexpected for people in the Valley.” But there is more to this story of generosity. On the day of the appointment, the client was hospitalized. To prevent the woman from having to reschedule, employee Chris Clements drove to Memorial Hospital where the woman was a patient, picked up her car, drove it back to the shop in Redstone, replaced the tires, and then drove the car back to the hospital so the patient had it for her discharge the next day.” “That’s the Johnson Auto Care way,” explained Clements. “We go out of our way to make customers happy.” |
